Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using ChessCoins. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the ChessCoins mobile application ("App") or visiting chess.sayedkhattab.com ("Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App or Website.

These Terms apply to all users of ChessCoins, including players, visitors, and any other persons who access or use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must meet the following requirements to use ChessCoins:

  • Be at least 13 years of age.
  • If you are between 13 and 18, have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Not be barred from using the service under applicable law.

By using ChessCoins, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Creating an Account

To use ChessCoins, you must create an account by providing a display name, phone number, and password. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep this information current.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@chess.sayedkhattab.com if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 One Account Per Person

Each person may maintain only one active ChessCoins account. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, coins, or leaderboard standings is prohibited.

4. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the ChessCoins app on a device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the App.
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the App.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ChessCoins only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Using automated bots, scripts, or software to play games or interact with the service.
  • Manipulating your rating, coin balance, or game outcomes through dishonest means.
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusing other players.
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems or another user's account.
  • Transmitting malware, viruses, or harmful code.
  • Engaging in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the service.
  • Creating fake accounts or impersonating another person or entity.
  • Scraping or collecting user data from the service without our express written consent.

6. ChessCoins Virtual Currency

6.1 Nature of ChessCoins

ChessCoins are a virtual in-app currency that can be earned by winning chess matches. ChessCoins have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for real money or goods outside of the App.

6.2 No Cash Value

ChessCoins are not redeemable for real currency, do not constitute property, and cannot be transferred between accounts. We reserve the right to modify, reset, or eliminate ChessCoins balances at any time with or without notice.

6.3 Account Deletion

Upon account deletion, your ChessCoins balance is permanently forfeited and cannot be recovered.

7. ELO Rating System

ChessCoins uses a standard ELO rating system. All players begin with a rating of 1200. Ratings change based on game outcomes and the relative ratings of players involved. We reserve the right to adjust or recalibrate the rating system at any time to maintain competitive integrity.

8. Intellectual Property

The ChessCoins app, including its design, graphics, code, and content, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by intellectual property laws. The name "ChessCoins," our logo, and any other marks we use are our property.

The game of chess itself is in the public domain. We make no claim to ownership of the rules or mechanics of chess.

9. User Content

Your display name and profile photo are visible to other users. By submitting this content, you grant us a license to display it within the App. You are responsible for ensuring that your display name and profile photo do not violate any third-party rights or these Terms.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.

10. Disclaimers

ChessCoins is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

We do not warrant that any particular feature or function will always be available. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of ChessCoins, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of ratings, or loss of virtual currency.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months (which for a free service is zero).

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to other users, the service, or us.

You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature in the App or on our Account Deletion page.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users through the App. Your continued use of ChessCoins after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ChessCoins that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration or the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction.
